We are seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer with MySQL DBA expertise first and Linux administration second, ideally Red Hat and Ubuntu. The role also covers networking, AWS, and production support, with end-to-end ownership of troubleshooting, maintenance, recovery, and improvement. GitHub, CI/CD, and DevSecOps are supporting skills.
Working expectations: Perform patching and troubleshooting during agreed customer maintenance windows. Adjust availability to workflow and maintenance schedules, including outside regular business hours when scheduled work requires it.
Key Responsibilities
1. MySQL Database Administration (Primary Focus)
Administer MySQL replication, backups, recovery, and performance tuning; investigate issues and implement lasting fixes.
Execute database patching and maintenance, including preparation, recovery planning, and post-change validation.
2. Linux Systems Management (Red Hat / Ubuntu)
Administer, secure, patch, and troubleshoot Linux environments, ideally Red Hat and Ubuntu.
Automate recurring system administration and maintenance tasks through scripting.
3. Production Support & Operational Ownership
Support production and non-production platforms; troubleshoot across database, Linux, network, application, and cloud layers.
Own incidents through recovery, validation, and follow-up; lead root cause analysis and preventive improvements.
4. Platform, Network & Maintenance Operations
Set up, configure, and manage platform networks; resolve connectivity issues.
Plan and execute patching and troubleshooting within customer maintenance windows; coordinate dependencies, recovery steps, health checks, and follow-up.
5. AWS Cloud Infrastructure
Maintain AWS environments (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS), troubleshoot infrastructure, and monitor security, availability, and cost.
Manage infrastructure changes using Terraform or CloudFormation.
6. Stakeholder Communication
Coordinate maintenance scope, timing, and availability with internal teams and customer stakeholders.
Provide incident and maintenance updates; document changes, validation, resolutions, and handoffs, and participate in operational reviews.
7. GitHub & CI/CD (Supporting Responsibilities)
Support GitHub repositories, branching, reviews, pull requests, branch protection, and releases.
Build and maintain GitHub Actions for builds, tests, scanning, and deployment; apply secrets management, SAST, DAST, and dependency scanning to improve pipeline security, reliability, and speed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
4+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE, supporting complex production cloud platforms.
MySQL DBA expertise: replication, backups, recovery, performance diagnosis, and tuning.
Linux administration: security, patching, troubleshooting, and scripting; Red Hat and Ubuntu preferred.
Networking and AWS: hands-on network configuration, secure connectivity, troubleshooting, and cloud infrastructure administration.
Maintenance ownership: independently prepare, execute, validate, and document patching and troubleshooting tasks within customer maintenance windows.
Adaptable availability: align with workflow demands and agreed maintenance schedules, including outside regular business hours when required.
Communication: strong written and verbal English, customer-facing updates, cross-functional coordination, clear documentation, and reliable handoffs.
Supporting skills: GitHub governance, GitHub Actions, end-to-end CI/CD, and DevSecOps.
Additional Assets
Docker / Kubernetes; HashiCorp Vault or other secrets management tools; fintech or regulated-environment experience.
What We’re Looking For
A hands-on problem solver who takes ownership, follows through, communicates clearly, and improves service reliability.
Comfortable adjusting availability for agreed maintenance work; this is neither an oversight-only nor a primarily CI/CD role.
Success in This Role Looks Like
Reliable MySQL databases, secure Linux systems, and stable platform networks.
Maintenance completed within agreed windows, with validation, clear updates, and documented follow-up.
Faster recovery, fewer recurring incidents, and stakeholder confidence; secure, efficient pipelines as a supporting outcome.
Interview expectation: Walk through real MySQL administration, Linux troubleshooting, and maintenance-window patching or recovery examples, explaining preparation, availability, communication, validation, and follow-up.
